Chocolate Protein Shake – Weight Loss Recipes

Chocolate Protein Shake:

So a bunch of you have asked me for some more protein smoothie recipes, so I want to share another one of my favorite with you.   It’s good to mix up the ingredients, and change up the shakes you have during the week.

I love to have this protein shake after I work out.

It’s loaded with protein to refuel your muscles, super foods and antioxidants, and is just plain and simply delicious, nutritious and satisfying!

  • 1-1/2 scoops protein powder – I Prefer Designer Whey Natural Vanilla because it has no artificial anything
  • ¾-1 cup coconut (or almond) milk
  • 1 Raw Egg
  • 1 cup of frozen strawberries, 7-8 small ones (you can use any kind of berries you like!)
  • 1 heaping Tbsp raw chocolate
  • 1 heaping tbsp flaxseed meal
  • 1 tbsp raw, uncooked honey
  • 4 to 5 cubes of ice (optional)

Directions:  Place all ingredients in mixture and blend until smooth.  You can add ice to make it frostier and thicker.

Let’s Break Down The Marvelous Ingredients!

Here is why I like to use these particular ingredients, aside from the protein in the protein powder, and extra protein and fat in the egg.

Strawberries:  I add strawberries because they are LOW on the glycemic index and not as high in sugar as other fruits like bananas, mangos or pineapple.  Try to use fresh frozen ones that you can freeze yourself.  Just freeze the ones you get at the farmers market.

Honey:  Honey is good for reducing muscle fatigue and improving your post workout recovery time… plus it makes your shake sweet and tasty.

Coconut Milk:  Coconut Milk is full of lauric acid, which wards off viruses.  It also adds vitamins, minerals and electrolytes… is rich in potassium to help with blood pressure, magnesium and aids with muscle soreness.

Raw Chocolate:  Raw Chocolate is a super food that has more antioxidant power than green tea, about four times, and it adds magnesium to help relax your muscles and ease achy joints.  Magnesium also helps to decrease cravings for sugar.

Flax Seed Meal:  Flax seed meal adds fiber and Omega-3’s.

Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Love,

Laura
