Healthy Dessert Recipes Banana Berry Ice Cream

BANANAThis is one of my favorite healthy dessert recipes.  It’s super easy to make and it takes just like a decadent ice cream, and has the consistency of the creamiest frozen dessert, but there is NO ice cream or sugar involved in this dessert.  There is also none of the other junk in a lot of frozen desserts, like carrageenan, guar gum, additives, preservatives, artificial flavors and colors, or any of that yucky stuff.

This dessert is made with fruit and raw cacao, along with a pinch of Stevia for added sweetness.  You can also use a little honey to sweeten it if you want to, but I like to use the Stevia, because it keeps the calories lower.

You can make the whole thing in your Vitamix or blender.  I find the Vitamix really fast and easy because you can control the speed and work it up to a creamy consistency.

You have to use frozen bananas for this to work, because that’s what gives this dessert its creamy consistency.

Here is a tip for freezing your bananas.  Peel them and place them on a cutting board and then stick them in the freezer.  This freezes the bananas individually and keeps them from sticking all together.

Here are the ingredients for this dessert recipe:

  • 1 frozen banana (cut into thirds or quarters)
  • Handful of fresh berries (I am using strawberries in this video, but any berries will do)
  • 1 heaping teaspoon of raw cacao
  • 1 or two scoops of Stevia (to taste)

Place the ingredients in your Vitamix or blender and begin to process — start slowly!  You will see it all jumping around in the blender and then it will start to blend.  A lot of air will start to get stuck between the blade and the fruit, so when it stops moving, just turn off the blender and press it down with a spoon and start it up again until creamy and smooth.

The whole process takes only about 2 to 3 minutes, and voila, you will have an amazing, creamy, healthy dessert recipe with NO ADDED SUGAR!
