Now if it wasn’t easy enough to make almond milk with raw almonds, here is an even easier way to do it!

I call homemade almond milk made with almond butter the “cheater’s way” because it’s just toooooooooooo simple, you will love it! Instead of using raw almonds, you use raw almond butter.

I stopped buying the boxed almond milk because EVERY brand I looked at on the shelves in my stores contains carrageenan.  And if you didn’t know, carrageenan is a sneaky ingredient that “thickens” things.  It’s in a ton of products.

The Carrageenen Controversy:

There is quite a bit of controversy surrounding carrageenen, and the risk that it could cause colon inflammation and colon cancer. I avoid all products containing it, and so I began to create my very own almond milk. It’s ridiculously easy to make and even easier if you make it using raw almond butter when you don’t have time to soak almonds.

So you should always have some raw almond butter on hand in the fridge for those times when you just didn’t get to the store or the farmer’s market to stock up on your raw almonds.

There is no soaking involved, and no straining needed, because there are no solids left behind from the almonds. So you literally have almond milk on your table in about two minutes!

Calories in Almond Milk:

 

Just note that almond milk made from almond butter is more calorically dense than making it from raw almonds, because you are not straining out the solids. So keep that in mind if you are watching calories. A cup of packaged almond milk contains about 40 calories. But if you use two tablespoons of almond butter and 2 cups of water as below, then a cup of this homemade almond milk would have about 90 calories.

Instructions to Make Homemade Almond Milk From Almond Butter:ALMOND MILK FROM ALMOND BUTTER


Here’s what you do, just combine the following
:

  • 2 tablespoons of almond butter
  • 2 cups of water
  • Pinch of Himalayan sea salt (optional)
  • 2 scoops Stevia (or to taste)
  • Or 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Blend all ingredients in your blender or Vitamix and you’re done.  There is no need to strain… it’s ready to enjoy!
