Importance of breakfast to lose weight

The importance of breakfast in making your body beautiful.

Moms are Usually Right!

Most of us have heard this over and over again our entire lives, especially from our moms: EAT BREAKFAST. But for many women the importance of eating breakfast has still not sunk in. I know so many women who get up at 6:00 in the morning and then exist on coffee until 10:00. Typically they will give you the same reasons, “I’m not hungry in the morning.” “I’m too busy to eat in the morning.” “I just don’t feel like eating breakfast.” “I’m trying to lose weight.”

We moms are brilliant at telling our kids to eat breakfast, and then we don’t follow our own stellar advice!

Well, I’m just as guilty as the rest of you, because I didn’t always understand the importance of breakfast, and I used to do the same thing. Rush rush rush, drink coffee, skip breakfast, STARVING at 11:00 or 12:00, and then eat something without having a chance to make a really good choice because you are too hungry! I changed my ways a long time ago, and now I always eat breakfast within an hour of waking up. It makes such a difference during my day, I feel better, have more energy, and I am not starving throughout the day. It really works to have breakfast.

In fact, what a lot people don’t realize is that eating breakfast actually helps your body in several ways, and not eating breakfast actually HURTS your body. The word breakfast literally means to “break the fast.” Your body has gone a long time without food, and so breakfast is the time to feed, refuel and energize yourself.

Here are some reasons to believe in the IMPORTANCE OF EATING BREAKFAST!

  • People who skip breakfast often feel tired, restless or irritable in the morning.
  • Breakfast gives your body a chance to refuel its glucose (blood sugar) levels. By the time you wake up, you have gone 8 to 12 hours without a meal or snack. You need to refuel your blood glucose levels to give your muscles the energy needed for physical activity throughout the day.
  • People who eat a BALANCED breakfast, eat less throughout the day. This does not mean you have a donut. If you have an unbalanced breakfast, you will actually find yourself being hungrier later on. Be sure your breakfast is BALANCED. Combine a small amount of protein, fiber, carbohydrate and fat at every breakfast.
  • A balanced breakfast aids in weight loss and weight management because it helps curb your hunger and prevents binge eating later in the day.
