Well, you’re certainly not alone!!
This is just about the right time of year when everyone is trying to figure out how to detox.
Right after the food and alcohol onslaught of the holidays everyone starts scrambling around to rid themselves of the excess weight they packed on between Halloween and New Year’s.
And it’s not just the few extra pounds most people want to get rid of, it’s the “toxic” invasion they feel their body has sustained from all the sugars, sodium, fatty foods, alcohol, and just plain partying and enjoying life!
January comes around and a lot of people start thinking “let’s clean house!”
What is a Detox?
So what is a detox? A detox basically means to rid your body of excess toxins.

1. a process or period of time in which one abstains from or rids the body of toxic or unhealthy substances; detoxification.
A lot of nutritionists believe that the body does not need an actual detox. The body has its own magnificent way of cleansing out toxins. That is what the body is designed to do.
Most health experts, including me, will tell you that your body does a good job of detoxing all on its own. Our liver detoxifies chemicals and metabolizes drugs, while our kidneys filter our blood, remove waste and keep our electrolytes in balance. So now you may be a little confused and thinking, “Heck, why do I even need to know how to detox?”
Well, here’s the thing, how can it hurt you to give your body a well deserved rest from all the chemicals and non-nutritive substances that it’s been dealing with for six or eight weeks?
It can’t hurt! And you honestly will feel better, less sluggish, and healthier… quicker!

My Easy Detox Secret!
One of the easiest ways I know to get your body started on a detox is to start your day with a blender salad! Yes, that’s basically a salad in a blender!
I have told hundreds of people about my “famous” blender salad. The reason I love this is because it’s EASY to make, and takes literally a few minutes.
Once you start your day with this blender salad, you’ll be surprised at how easily this sets you up for the rest of the day. You’re less hungry, you have less blood sugar spikes and crashes, and you feel fuller longer.
Three of the super ingredients in my blender salad are also super hydrating, debloaters, and full of fiber!
- Cucumber: Cucumbers are mega-hydrators containing 95% water. They also contain caffeic acid, which is an antioxidant that helps fight swelling! That’s why we put cucumber slices on our puffy eyes!
- Celery: Frankly, celery makes you pee! Yes, it does! Celery contains a natural diuretic!
- Apple: The best fiber you can get, hands down. Keeps you fuller longer! It’s seriously true that an apple a day keeps the doctor away!
All of this adds up to just making generally healthier choices throughout the day because you never get overly hungry or get out of control cravings!
